Perth cyclists on ride to Poland for Track World Championships

CYCLIST Sam Welsford is heading to Poland for the 2019 Track World Championships.

The Northern Districts Cycle Club member has been selected in the 17-rider team and will compete in the endurance event.

Midland Cycle Club’s Cameron Meyer and Matthew Richardson will also compete in the championships from February 27 to March 3.

The Australian team, featuring the trio, was recently crowned overall 2018-19 World Cup winners.

Richardson won gold in the team sprint at the round six competition in Hong Kong, Meyer finished first in the omnium and Welsford won silver in 30km Madison.

Australia won 34 medals including 13 gold, 12 silver and nine bronze across the six-round World Cup series.
