Rio Olympics: Karrinyup diver Keeney wins bronze in 3m synchornised diving

KARRINYUP’S Maddison Keeney and partner Anabelle Smith took out the Olympic bronze in the women’s synchronised 3m diving final.

The pair started with a top form back dive pike and powered through with a score of 71.10.

They held their position in the opening diving event with a strong finish despite a threat from Canadians Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware coming away with a score of 67.50.

Keeney and Smith finished with a total score of 299.19 and were all smiles when they took to the podium alongside China who came away with gold (345.60) and Italy who snagged silver with their score of 313.83.

Kenney is a medal contender in the individual 3m springboard event on August 13.
