SCARBOROUGH javelin thrower Kim Mickle suffered a devastating shoulder dislocation during her Rio Olympic qualifying round this morning.

Off the back of a shoulder injury, which caused her to miss the season, Mickle threw an initial 57.20m, just short of the 60m needed to qualify.

She then threw a foul before injury struck on her third throw.

The Rio medical staff were criticised on social media for not tending to Mickle for some time due to the start of another event.

Mickle has been taken to hospital.
