Scarborough: ATI Martial Arts picks up swag of medals at taekwondo world champs event

SCARBOROUGH taekwondo athletes from ATI Martial Arts won gold, silver and bronze medals while representing Australia in the biggest world championship event for the sport, in Birmingham, UK, on July 9.

The team competed against athletes from around the world and brought home two gold, two silver and three bronze medals in the round robin-style competition.

The team was coached by four time open world champion and founding director of ATI Martial arts Tony Curtis, alongside Rodney Lockyer and Michael Kaplan.

Curtis said he found teaching young children very fulfilling.

“Over the 30 years of teaching, my passion still remains as developing a strong mind set and confidence in the children; and planting the seeds of success in turn can produce world class athletes that perhaps one day could compete in a world championship event,” he said.
