Soccer: Balcatta breaks drought in NPLWA

BALCATTA Football Club finally broke its run of six consecutive losses in the latest round of the National Premier League WA.

They beat Forrestfield United 2-0 at home, with striker Alex Wild delivering the goals in the first and 30th minutes.

The news was not as good for the Stirling Lions, who lost to Sorrento 2-1 at home.

Sorrento kicked two goals before Steve Sokol managed to score for Stirling late in the first half.

But they were not able to find the equaliser in the second half and notched their fifth straight loss.

Balcatta sit second-bottom of the ladder with six wins and a draw, while Stirling are fourth from the bottom (six wins and two draws).

Stirling host sixth-placed ECU Joondalup at home next and Balcatta face ninth-placed Subiaco away.
