Soccer: Dianella duo picked in WA under-13 squad for National Youth Championships

Christian Belladonna will be playing in the under-13s team and Nick McDonald will line up for the under-14s.

Scarborough’s Oscar Wright was also selected in the under-13s team.

Football West technical manager Cris Ola said the championships were important in identifying talented players capable of progressing further in the junior system.

“WA players have been improving every year and there is an expectation that our teams will play a good and attractive brand of football,” he said.

“We have a good pool of talent and there is no reason why some of the boys heading over to Coffs this year can’t make it to the next level.

“They should all be encouraged by the recent success we had in having four WA players in the Joeys squad at the Asian Football Confederation under-16 Championships in India.”

John Walmsley will coach the under-13s team and former Perth Glory player Mitchell Prentice will be in charge of the under-14s.
