State paddleboard champs crowned at WA SUP Titles

SEVEN stand up paddleboard State champions have been crowned at the final round of the WA SUP Titles series.

Former AFL player and SUP world tour event winner Dave Muir, of Nedlands, won the open men’s division ahead of Karrinyup’s Chris Twomey, who secured the overall State title at the Geraldton competition.

Twomey was also State champion in the over 40 men’s category, which he won, and Muir finished first in the 10-foot men’s category, with Scott McKercher crowned State champion.

Beaconsfield resident Susannah Wilson won the open women’s and 10-foot events and both State titles.

Narelle Kuppers is the over-40 women’s champion while Scarborough’s Silvia De Araujo took first place in Geraldton and Ian Ausden, of Claremont, won the over 50 men’s title ahead of event winner Darron McNab, of Karrinyup.

The WA SUP team will be compete at the national titles in Victoria in October.
