Mackay won the prestigious trophy for his outstanding achievements and dedication to the sport of road cycling.
For his efforts, he received a $1450 cheque from the City of Stirling and a Diamond Gym Membership for Terry Tyzack Fitness Centre valued at over $900 plus an iTunes voucher.
Ashley was also the recipient of the Senior Sports Star of the Year Award.
Other big winners on the night included swimmer Sachi Morrow who took out the Stirling Times Junior Sports Star of the Year, Scarborough Amateur Football Club President and dedicated volunteer Tim McCallum who was honoured as Valued Volunteer of the Year, and Primal Ultimate head coach Anna Haynes who won the inaugural Community Coach of the Year Award.
Winners of the Rotary Junior Sports Scholarship included baseball player Jess Williams and gymnast Georgia Thomas, while encouragement and commendation award winners included Rahul Jegatheva, Sita Mann, Trenton Matthews, Danielle ten Vaanholt, Amie Thomas, Kaila Bogdanov, and Vanessa Tenaglia.
Appreciation Awards went to Jenni Santa Maria of Balcatta Cricket Club, Robert Geersen of Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club, and Drew Foley and Kylie Caunt of ECU Cavaliers School of Fencing.
Former Stirling Sports Star round winner (2009), and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist (2014, Javelin), Kim Mickle, attended the dinner presenting awards and delivering an inspiring address to nominees and guests.
Stirling Mayor Giovanni Italiano congratulated all of the finalists and winners and thanked them for their valuable contribution to the community.
�The Stirling Sports Star Awards is a great way to recognise the people who dedicate their time and energy to build and sustain local sporting clubs and promote the value of sport in our community,� Cr Italiano said.
The Stirling Sports Star Awards form part of the City�s extremely successful Clubs Forever Program, designed to help clubs and community organisations within the City of Stirling through ongoing support aimed at efficient self-management.
Cr Italiano also acknowledged the ongoing support and sponsorship by the Department of Sport and Recreation, WA Sports Federation, Rotary Club of Balcatta, and the Stirling Times.
