Swell Times: Pro Am crowns nine new surfing State champions

Neil Atkinson, The Surf BoardroomStirling Times

AS we move deeper into winter and the mornings get colder, already we can reflect on how good the waves have been this season, not only in Perth but in regional areas too.

The WA Pro Am series was wrapped up in Geraldton recently, with nine new state champions being crowned.

The surf for the competition at Flat Rocks, just south of Geraldton, was exceptional to say the least.

Notable performances were by Jack Haslau, of Margaret River, winning the open men’s division and taking out the State title, Mandurah’s April McPherson, who won the women’s State title, and Pascal Hutchinson, of Sorrento, who took top honours in the under-21 Pro Am.
