Trigg lifesavers on top at Australian Pool Life Saving Championships

TRIGG lifesavers have proven they are among the best in the country at a recent competition.

Five Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club members were selected for the 11-member WA team that competed at the Australian Pool Life Saving Championships in Adelaide from January 11 to 13.

Lachlan Meldrum (17) Jake Smith (20) and Josh Windsor (20) were part of the WA team awarded overall champions in the men’s category, while Chalise Pratt (15) was named in Australia’s national junior pool lifesaving squad, the Barras, and Smith made the Open Australian Barras squad.

Smith picked up six gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the competition and Pratt won three gold, three silver and one bronze medal.

Madeline Thompson (17) also shone, winning a silver and five bronze medals, while Windsor was part of the gold medal-|winning men’s relay team and Meldrum came away with two silver and three bronze medals.

The WA team placed third overall in the competition.
