TRIGG bodyboarder Joel Hughan is riding high after wins at the recent WA Bodyboard Titles.

Hughan took out two titles from three finals at the event held at Margaret River’s Gas Bay on March 24 and 25.

He won the under-21 pro junior and under-18 junior men categories, with Scarborough’s Joel De Legh taking second place in the latter.

Hughan also finished fourth in the open men’s division.

“It’s been a great event but very exhausting, I’m stoked to have won two divisions and made three finals,” he said.

“Thanks to all the boys I competed against – it was the toughest competition I can remember.”

Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks said the competition gave a great indication of the future of bodyboarding.

“To see professionals participate alongside our grass roots youngsters was really cool and solidifies the pathway that events such as this create for them to follow,” he said.
