SUBIACO Floreat is one step closer to regaining its spot in the top 6 following a brutal first day with the bat, scoring 9-341 on Saturday against Scarborough at Abbett Park.

While the day didn’t begin well for the Lions, struggling at 2-40, Calum How and Aaron Lilly swung the momentum back with a 53-run third-wicket partnership.

After Lilly was dismissed at 3-93, How soldiered on, adding a further 58 runs with Cameron Green, increasing the score to 151.

With two partners coming and going, How continued to be a pillar of strength for the Lions, finding another partner in Tim Monteleone. The dynamic duo added 62 runs as How brought up an impressive century.

Following How’s dismissal, Monteleone played an anchoring role for the remainder of the innings, as Scarborough’s bowlers finally started to make some inroads.

Cody Rose found a purple patch with the ball, taking three wickets in the middle of the innings to have the Lions sitting on 8-308.

Monteleone was eventually dismissed for 79 as Rose claimed his fourth wicket for the day at 9-323, before the Lions ended the day on 9-341.
