Bank opens new branch

Staff ReporterThe Advocate

Located on the corner of Main Street and The Promenade, the branch is a first for Westpac in the town.

Branch manager Sharron Shardlow said the seven staff employed there were mostly from Ellenbrook, Chittering, Bullsbrook and Aveley.

‘Demand is very high and customers were travelling 25 minutes to get to Midland or Westpac Morley branches, so we are really excited to be here,’ she said. ‘There is such a community spirit here, with customers welcoming us to Ellenbrook, so we are looking forward to building relationships and becoming part of the community.’

As part of the new approach to banking, the traditional screens and counters that separated customers from staff has been scrapped for a mix of self-service banking options and tailored advice and support from specialist banking staff.

A key highlight of the new branch is 24/7 self-service banking with ‘smart’ ATMs and coin deposit machines.

There is also ‘The Heart’, a central space in the branch where Westpac’s iPad app for mobile banking on dedicated tablets is provided.

‘Our new-style branches are designed exactly with those needs in mind with the lay-out tailored to make it easier for our customers and our staff to have the conversations that really matter,’ Mrs Shardlow said.
