Romano’s Pizzeria in Connolly won awards for the Best Pizza (WA) and Best Cheap Eats (WA) categories of the I Love Food Awards 2014.

The awards are run through Foxtel’s Food Channel and had more than 99,000 voters.

In recent weeks, Mr Romano opened the Ellenbrook branch of his pizza franchise at the Woodlake Shopping Centre. He said he was humbled by the community support.

‘When I was looking at buying the pizza store in Connolly in 2012, I was told not to touch it, no one has ever lasted there; it was known as the ‘doom’ shop,’ he said.
