Dear Friends Garden Restaurant, of Caversham, and the King & I, in Guildford, were presented with their prizes at the Perth Convention Centre on October 28.

Winning major awards is nothing new for husband and wife team Kiren and Kelli Mainwaring, who own Dear Friends Garden Restaurant.

It was the restaurant’s sixth Gold Plate. It also won the Premier’s Prize for best overall finalist in 2011 and the best licensed dining city metro in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Chef Kiren trained in Pembrokeshire, Wales, before meeting his Canadian-born wife Kelli and travelling extensively in Europe, North America, Fiji, Thailand and Malaysia before finally settling in the Swan Valley. The couple also own and run Co-Op Dining in East Perth.
