SWAN Christian College’s theatre company Fenceline Theatre will perform The Book of Everything at the 2019 Perth Fringe World Festival.

The production is based on the award-winning book of the same name by Dutch author Guus Kuijer, set in Amsterdam after World War II.

The Book of Everything tells the story of Thomas (9) who sees things that nobody else can see and who writes everything into his book, including his wish to be happy when he grows up.

Fenceline Theatre Director Jane Hille said the play deals with mature topics and dark themes, including domestic abuse and stories of resistance against the Nazis yet manages to capture moments of magic, humour and honesty.

Swan Christian College alumni, academic staff and parents form the cast of the production, and they have been rehearsing since August this year.

Ms Hille said she was looking forward to the theatre company’s second appearance at Fringe World Festival

“This is an important story to be told,” she said.

“A reading aloud club and wonderful woman help to save Thomas and his family.”

The Book of Everything is showing at the Maali Mia Theatre from February 6 to 16.
