YOUTH Week celebrations in Swan Hills will receive funding to deliver events in the area during National Youth Week WA in April.
Swan Hills MLA Frank Alban said the City of Swan, in partnership with Skateboarding WA, would be given $1000 towards the success of events during the first week of April.
“I am pleased that the Government continues to support these events that acknowledge and celebrate the positive contribution young people make in the local community,” Mr Alban said.

READ NOW“The celebrations provide a platform for young people to express their ideas, have their voices heard, showcase their talent and, most of all, have fun.”
The City of Swan and Skateboarding WA have hosted a series of skate clinics and mini-competitions from September last year, running until Youth Week.
The final competition and event will showcase skills and talents of the young people who have participated and will include a DJ/entertainment, barbecue and market stalls of stakeholders who deliver youth-related services within the City of Swan.
A leadership group of young people have had full responsibility for the planning of the skate competition, which includes transport, catering and identification, and liaising with stallholders.
“I am delighted to see young people in Swan Hills getting involved – the diversity of these projects are a wonderful testament to their range of skills and interests,” Mr Alban said.
“I encourage all young people to support their peers by getting involved or attending these events.”
National Youth Week WA runs from April 2 to 9, 2017.
