DETECTIVES have charged a 16-year-old boy over a robbery at an Ellenbrook ATM.

Police said a 74-year-old man was withdrawing cash from an ATM at the entrance of a shopping centre on Main Street on July 24 at 11am.

It was alleged the boy bumped the man from behind and grabbed the cash as the 74-year-old was walking away from the machine.

Police said they both fell to the ground during a scuffle and the boy ran away with a sum of money while members of the public helped the victim.

The boy, from Ellenbrook, has been charged with Aggravated Robbery and is due to appear in the Perth Children’s Court on August 21.
