Alicia Gorey portrait wins people’s choice prize in Ellenbrook Open Art Award

ALICIA Gorey’s painting, My Brown Eyed Girl, won the people’s choice award in the Ellenbrook Open Art Award.

Gorey has been painting since 2008 and attended the Claremont School of Art and studied under lecturers including John Paul, Drewfus Gates, Richard Merito and D’hange Yammane.

Her most recent studies under Yammane were focused on figure drawing and plein air techniques.

Gorey exclusively paints with oil on canvas and favours portraiture.

Her popular painting portrayed Ruby-Ann from Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory and illustrated the little girl’s gentle smile and searching eyes in this delicate portrait.
