Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the upgrades would include fresh tiled floors and pool, new changerooms and a shaded outdoor barbecue area.
“The refurbishment will not only improve how the area looks but how it functions,” he said. “The aquatic area was built in 2000 and since then has been in use seven days a week over the 16 years.”
The aquatic area will close temporarily. But the leisure centre’s gym and sports courts, group fitness and function rooms will remain open while works take place.

Those wishing to swim at an indoor facility are reminded that Swan Park Leisure Centre and Ballajura Aquatic Centre are available and located just 15 minutes from Altone Park.
