An unregistered 4WD utility was then seen travelling through the paddock but lost control and came within 20m of Anya and her handler.

The driver regained control, made it to a sealed road and sped off.

Police Air Wing officers followed the vehicle until it was abandoned and the occupants ran south near Bells Rapids.

Air Wing officers directed Anya to the area and she located the two lying in the river bed.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman.

No charges have been laid and inquiries continue.
