RECORD crowds are expected at this year’s Anzac Day service in Ellenbrook as the RSL sub-branch commemorates the centenary of the Armistice that ended World War I.
The service, the biggest in the region, is expected to attract more than 5000 people to Ellenbrook District Open Space.
Ellenbrook RSL sub-branch media officer Frank Mallard said the Dawn Service continued to attract more people each year.

“We are expecting there to be an increase from last year and for this year to be our biggest.”
Sub-branch vice-president Darby Munro said there were more families and children attending the service each year.
“Each year we see more and more young families getting involved and children recognising the service of soldiers,” he said.
This year’s Dawn Service will be the third held at the District Open Space, which enabled it to grow each year.
Mr Munro said it also raised the profile of the sub-branch and opened it up to new members.
“Our memberships grew by 20 over the past year, with some younger vets from Afghanistan joining,” he said.
“We hope this will continue and we can get some new, younger members to join.”
The Ellenbrook RSL sub- branch dawn service will start from 5.45am at the Ellenbrook District Open Space, with coffee available for purchase from 5am.
