Ellenbrook art awards a success

Pearce MHR Christian Porter officially opened the exhibition at The Gallery on Main Street in Ellenbrook and awarded six talented emerging artists with their prize money.

Judy Rogers won the Ellenbrook Art Overall Prize for her work Screen – Lit, while Brett Canet-Gibson was awarded best overall work by a resident of City of Swan for his photographic piece Fleur de Lisa.

The award is a first for Ellenbrook Arts.

Ellenbrook Arts community arts manager Carol Harris, said more than 125 entries were received — all of an extremely high calibre, making the judges’ decision a difficult one.

“We have been delighted with the response to our first open art award and proud to be able to showcase the work of such talented artists,” she said.

“We received entries from local artists as well as some from all over the State and the result is a beautiful exhibition.”
