POLICE are closer to catching a man responsible for a vicious sexual assault on a young woman in Aveley.

Sex Assault Squad detectives said they had “some lines of inquiry” after a mobile policing facility was set up outside the 7-Eleven store at the corner of The Broadway and Maffina Parade on Thursday morning.

A 20-year-old woman was sexually and physically assaulted at her home on Holdsworthy Avenue home after a man broke in on Saturday about 8pm.

The young male offender is described as about 16 years old, dark-skinned and about 180cm tall, with a slim build.

He was wearing a black jumper with a white logo on the front, a black baseball cap and red sneakers.

A dark-coloured bandana was used to cover his face.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 7.30pm and 9pm who may have seen the man or a white-coloured sedan, possibly a Subaru or Magna with custom rims and tinted windows.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report the information online at .
