SANDWICHED between two pieces of bread were the winning fillings assembled with lightning speed by an Ellenbrook resident to claim the title of Fastest Sandwich Artist in Australia and New Zealand.
Sandwich maker Jess Aufdemkampe achieved a record time of 49.59sec to assemble a foot-long ham sub at the Subway 2018 Australia & New Zealand Convention earlier in June.
Contestants were judged on speed, accuracy and overall sandwich appearance.
For her win Ms Aufdemkampe, who works at Subway Aveley, was named Fastest Sandwich Artist and took home $2000.
“It’s been great to put Subway Aveley on the map amongst the other Subway sandwich artists across Australia and New Zealand,” she said.
“And of course, letting our local community know that we make great subs here.”
She said a lot of care and attention went into every sandwich made.
“There are so many elements that make a good sub, including how the bread is cut,” she said.
“I enjoy working in the food industry, and take pride in making our guests happy but what I really love is being part of the local community and getting to know our regulars.”
