Montana ArdonThe Advocate

MEXICAN fast food chain Zambrero celebrated its first day of business in Aveley on Tuesday with huge queues out the door.

Customers lined up before the store opened at noon to get their hands around a free burrito, on offer to the first one thousand people.

In the first 10 minutes, 50 burritos had already been given out.

Owner and manager Julian D’Arcy said his 20 staff were flat out from the outset.

“We’re 10 minutes in and I think about 50 burritos or more have already been made,” he said.

“I think we will reach 1000 by about 4.30 or 5pm.”

Mr D’Arcy said the opening had been about three months in the making.

“It’s been quite stressful,” he said

“But it’s all under control now, it’s all good.”

The store – formerly a patisserie shop – is located at the corner of Gnangara Drive and Henley Brook Drive.
