Bike in the Valley back again

Montana ArdonThe Advocate

CYCLISTS in the City of Swan are gearing up for the annual Bike in the Valley event next Sunday.

City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the ride through the Swan Valley was a great day out for riders of all ages and experience levels.

“This is a fun, family ride that is well signed and supported by a ‘sag wagon’, following the riders to pick up anyone who needs assistance,” he said.

“We have marshals at critical corners and crossings and a Dr Bike clinic at the starting and finishing point to answer any questions about bike maintenance.”

Swan Valley/Gidgegannup Ward councillor Rod Henderson said the Swan Valley made the perfect backdrop to the ride.

“There are two routes people can choose from, a 22km and a 32km circuit,” he said.

“Both weave through sections of the Swan Valley past paddocks of cows, sheep, goats, llamas, kangaroos, geese and horses, as well as some suburbia and the tourist drive in the Valley.

“It is mostly flat on rural back streets or bicycle paths so suitable for novice or experienced riders.”

Cr Henderson also added a sausage sizzle would be available at the end.

The ride starts and finishes at West Swan Oval, corner West Swan Road and Henley Street, with registrations from 9am and riders leaving at 10am.
