The video of the Tour de Fridge drinking group has about 70,000 YouTube hits and attracted international media attention in the process.

The incident involved a bunch of men cycling to different houses in Ellenbrook to take part in some binge drinking.

Alcohol experts have condemned the binge drinking while the City of Swan said it was ‘a bad reflection of Ellenbrook’.

However, locals are mostly unconcerned with the BMX boozers, with many saying the condemnation had been blown out of proportion.

‘No one can say that they never had a bit of fun when they were that age,’ Ellenbrook resident Angie Ditri said.

‘They didn’t hurt, steal or bash anyone, so leave them alone.

‘I never would have known about this if I hadn’t just read it, so it couldn’t have been that out of control.’

Another Ellenbrook resident took to social media to express similar sentiments.

‘I love this; they rode past our house and it was just fun. It shouldn’t affect anyone ” I say let them be,’ she said.

‘We all did something like this or similar. I don’t think it makes Ellenbrook look bad at all ” we have the break-ins for that.’

However, a neighbour of one of the hosts of the Ellenbrook Tour de Fridge, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was disgusted by their behaviour.

‘It was Good Friday morning and at 8am we woke up to very foul language and music blaring,’ she said.

‘I found it very disrespectful as our family were trying to sit outside, enjoy a morning coffee and hot- cross buns and we had local residents behaving like that.

‘This clip should be banned.’

City of Swan chief executive Mike Foley said the actions of the group did nothing to improve the reputation of Ellenbrook.

‘It’s a thriving, family-oriented community,’ he said.
