Bio-remediation site rejected by City of Swan

Lisa ThomasThe Advocate

Councillor Kevin Bailey put forward a motion at Wednesday night’s council meeting that councillors refuse the application, based on grounds that it did not fit in with the landscape zoning of the land.

Cr Bailey said the operation was “toxic” and did not fit within the current land use.

Cr David Fardig seconded the motion and said he didn’t believe the particular site suited this use.

Cr Rod Henderson argued against the motion and said the most important thing was that the Ellen Brook and western swamp tortoise wouldn’t be harmed by the application.

The motion was carried 12-1.
