Last Tuesday, Simon Forrest, WA’s longest serving Aboriginal academic, performed a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony to officially mark the start of the school’s celebrations.

On Wednesday, singer Lucas Proudfoot performed music and cultural awareness shows to students from kindergarten to Year 6.

Deputy principal Danielle Wild said Mr Proudfoot used guitar, didgeridoo and a stomp box in a highly entertaining show where students participated in learning about Aboriginal culture and music.

‘Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Aboriginal education officer Yvonne Bell, the students of Arbor Grove continue to have relevant, culturally appropriate learning experiences to widen their knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal education.’
