Celebrations scheduled throughout Naidoc Week in Ellenbrook

ELLENBROOK will hold a number of school holiday activities this month to celebrate Naidoc week.

It is the first time ever that Naidoc events will coincide with the Ellenbrook school holiday program.

City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the Naidoc week activities were an important community celebration of Aboriginal culture and tradition.

“On July 4, the Water Corporation will be presenting an interactive talk for kids and families on the significance of water in Aboriginal culture at the Ellenbrook Community Library,” he said.

“You can also head down to the Ellenbrook Central Shopping Centre on Friday July 7, where a group of Aboriginal community members will lead cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts events and other family activities .

“The Naidoc week events happening around the City of Swan are important opportunities for residents to learn more about the culture, knowledge and practices of Aboriginal people.”
