A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire started in the chimney.

“The fire was contained to two upstairs bedrooms,” she said.

“It was under control by 1.40am, and firefighters stayed on site until 4.40am when it was completely out.”

It is understood the residents of the house managed to escape.

DFES said the cause of the fire was being investigated.
