Church youth leader charged over alleged child abuse

A CHURCH youth group leader has been charged over alleged child sexual abuse incidents from more than 20 years ago.

It is alleged between October and December 1998, the man sexually assaulted a girl.

Police said the girl was 15-years-old at the time of the first incident.

The man, now 44, was a youth leader at a church group the victim was a member of when the alleged offences occurred.

The man from Brabham has been charged with a string of offences including indecently dealing with a child over 13 and under 16 years, sexual penetration of a child over 16 years and indecently dealing with a child over 16 years.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates’ Court today.
