City of Swan launches program to activate Ellenbrook community

Staff writerThe Advocate

THE CITY of Swan has launched a new program to “activate” Ellenbrook and surrounding areas.

The program aims to inspire and support residents to come up with innovative community projects to make it a better place to live and visit.

City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the project hoped to do three things – inspire great ideas, encourage collaboration and get the ball rolling.

“Whether it’s hosting a neighbourhood barbeque, forming a new community group or kick starting an environmental initiative – this is the chance to make it happen,” he said.

“The city’s community development team will work with you to connect you with like-minded community members and provide support to get your ideas off the ground.”

The project will launch tonight at the Ellenbrook Community Library, with social entrepreneur and community enthusiast Peter Kenyon hosting the event.

Ellenbrook ward Councillor Cate McCullough said the free event would be an exciting evening of storytelling and idea sharing.

“The launch is a chance to learn more about the project, connect with your neighbours and enjoy the fun activities on offer,” she said.
