City of Swan sends reminder that restricted burning still in place

THE City of Swan is reminding residents restricted burning is in place due to bushfire risk.

The ban, which will remain in place until May 31, means residents will not be able to burn without a permit.

Deputy Mayor David Lucas said it was important for residents to abide by the ban.

“Lighting fires on your property can be extremely dangerous, so having these burning restrictions in place helps to reduce the risk of bushfire,” he said.

“It’s really important that residents work together with the City to help protect their properties and neighbours against this risk.”

Residents with properties smaller than 2000sq m will not be able to apply for a permit.

Residents are reminded that fires are banned completely if the fire danger rating is very high.
