City of Swan to review illegal dumping

The council agreed at its May 25 meeting to add $30,000 to its draft annual budget for the review and strategies to prevent the practice.

“The city concurs that it would be timely to review the city’s current approach to mitigating the risks of illegal dumping in the city,” an officer said in a report the council.

“While this issue is an ongoing one, impacted by a range of factors and without any one simple solution, an integrated and comprehensive approach involving education and enforcement is clearly warranted.”

A report on the review will be submitted to the council by the end of September.
