Crash on Brand Hwy near Muchea claims life of 38-year-old man

A GINGIN father (38) was killed and another man injured after a head-on crash on the Brand Highway near Muchea this morning.

The two-car crash happened just after 5am, with foggy conditions a possible cause.

The injured man (30) was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC Rescue Helicopter for treatment, but has since been released.

Police and emergency services were at the scene of the crash – about 10km north of Muchea – from 5.15am.

A second crash happened after the police roadblock was put in place due to the fatal crash, with a motorist swerving off the road and skidding on the gravel to avoid it.

Brand Highway between Muchea and Gingin remains closed in both directions while Major Crash investigates.

The latest fatality brings the state’s road toll so far this year to 66, with 49 deaths in regional WA and 17 in the metropolitan area.
