Day the sky turned red

Caroline Frank, The AdvocateThe Advocate

Long-term residents Geoff and Anne Parrott were sitting by their pool with dogs Bella and Zac when they saw the flames approaching.

‘We were watching the fire from our pool decking, when we looked up and saw a huge cloud of black smoke and the sky turned red,’ Mrs Parrott said.

‘It was pure fear. You see fires on TV and think it won’t happen to you. We got a message from DFES to leave immediately, so we got out of there.’
