The musician will play music from his traditional classical guitar repertoire with works by Bach, Sor, Albeniz, Barrios, Brouwer, Ponce, Sojo and others.

Neander started playing classical guitar as a child before moving into blues as an adult and playing in bands across Perth and working as a music teacher.

He said he had recently returned to his first love of classical guitar and started playing concerts.

“I’ve had really great feedback from the gigs, especially with younger kids enjoying classical guitar and starting to play; it seems to be making a comeback,” he said.

“The gallery has wonderful acoustics which will enhance the sounds. If you want to hear classical guitar acoustically in a good environment, then this will be a great gig to come along to.

“There will also be an exhibition of bushland scenes from a local primary school, which people can enjoy.”

The recital starts at 7.30pm on Friday. Tickets are available at the door from $15 for adults and $10 for concession and Ellenbrook Arts Gallery members. Call 9297 9940.
