A SYNDICATE of two long-time friends from north of the river has won $1 million from the Saturday Lotto draw.

The mother of two and engaged man, who’ve been playing Lotto together weekly for nearly three years, hold a friendship spanning 22 years.

“My late father played Lotto and always told me that you have to be in it to win it,” he said.

“So as homage to him, we’ve kept each of our winning tickets, totalling $459, in his wallet.

“And we’ll keep the tradition alive with a photocopy of our division 1 ticket in there too!”

The pair described the feeling of winning Lotto as surreal and were thankful they could now pay off their respective mortgages and for the man, pay for his upcoming wedding.

“We’ll also do some travel, build a pool and invest the rest,” the woman said.

“Together we’re millionaires and it’s thrilling to be able to share it with my best friend.”

The ticket was bought at Nextra Express Ellenbrook – the store has previously produced four division 1 winners in just four years totalling nearly $5 million in prizes.

• Meanwhile, Ellenbrook Community Collective Incorporated has received a $20,000 Lotterywest grant toward its free annual event, the Elfenbrook Christmas Festival and Pageant this Saturday, December 8, from noon to 6pm.
