Ellenbrook: Brookmount Park lake refurbishment to be finished this month

Lisa ThomasThe Advocate

CITY of Swan will refurbish the Brookmount Park lake in Charlottes Vista in Ellenbrook this month.

The lake has been drained to allow the City to undertake the works, as part of its bridge renewal program.

The work will include rendering limestone walls, pile (bridge posts) encapsulation and replacement of the timber deck and kick rails.

Swan chief executive Mike Foley said the water would be replaced by the end of May.

“The draining of the lake has also provided the City with a rare opportunity to clean the lake and remove the large amount of rubbish that has been dumped there over the years,” he said.

Mr Foley said the City had been contacted by residents with concerns about local wildlife.

He said the City would monitor wildlife in the area and intervene if issues arise.

“The City has been in contact with residents regarding the ducks located at the lake and has reassured them that they are not in danger,” he said.

“Ducks traditionally source alternative water sources if and when needed, and there are a number of lakes and water sources in the area.”

Any residents with concerns over wildlife or the refurbishment can contact the City of Swan on 9267 9267.
