Ellenbrook Christian College students donate handbags and toiletries to women in need

Montana ArdonThe Advocate

STUDENTS from Ellenbrook Christian College are helping to spread the spirit of Christmas by donating handbags and toiletries to women in need.

Year 10 students Tahlia Kabelka, Tiah Lanciano and Rhiannon Reynolds met with Chaplain Margaret Colls and Family and Outreach Violence worker Tina Hudson from the Salvation Army.

The women work at Graceville, a refuge run by the Salvation Army for women who have been subjected to domestic violence.

Often the women arrive at Graceville with little more than the clothes they are wearing.

Throughout the year, Tahlia, Tiah and Rhiannon promoted the Handbag Project as a small way of helping these women.

The handbags and toiletries, donated by the community of Ellenbrook Christian College, were given to the women who seek refuge at Graceville; a small gesture showing them that someone cares, and hopefully helping them restore their dignity.
