DANNY Green has condemned alcohol-fuelled violence following a fight in Ellenbrook that has left a man fighting for his life.
Diego Hulton was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital after a violent attack outside The Brook Bar and Bistro on Friday night. The 37-year-old suffered severe head injuries after he allegedly tried to break up a fight about 10.30pm outside the venue.
The venue screened Green’s fight against Anthony Mundine earlier that night.
Green said he was upset to learn of the incident.
“It’s disappointing to know it happened any time, not just the night of my fight,” he said.
“It’s a shocking incident.
“All I know is what I’ve read in the paper that he was trying to stop a fight.
“He was trying to be a peaceful guy and now he’s fighting for his life.”
Green said fighting outside of the ring was “disgusting”.
He said fighting when under the influence of alcohol was cowardly.
“Step into the ring, or step into the cage… with a trained professional fighter who know what they’re doing and will test you,” he said.
