Ellenbrook dental clinic aims to spread joy to Australian troops at Xmas

Lisa ThomasThe Advocate

A DENTAL clinic in Ellenbrook is collecting donations and spreading Christmas joy to Australian soldiers serving overseas during the festive season.

Dental nurse Courtney Glare from Coolamon Dental is calling on businesses and residents to jump on board and donate books, magazines, puzzles, games and treats for Australian soldiers serving in the Middle East, Solomon Islands and East Timor.

The donations will be put into care packages and sent in the hope of making Christmas special for those who cannot be with their families.

Ms Glare said she got the idea off social media and wanted to do something similar.

She said many men and women couldn’t be with their families during Christmas and it was a small way to brighten up their day.

“We are all so lucky to feel safe and spend Christmas Day with our family,” she said.

“Our soldiers are over there helping to protect us and are unable to see their families, with some being away for more than six months, so this is one small way to help spread some joy.”

Ellenbrook Woolworths and Coles, and Colgate have jumped on board with donations but Ms Glare hoped other local businesses would join in.

“We’d like to send as many packages as possible and help put a smile on many faces,” she said.
