Ellenbrook indecent assault: man charged after incident on Transperth bus

POLICE have charged a 20-year-old Westminster man with indecent assault after an incident on board a Transperth bus to Ellenbrook earlier this month.

About 7:30pm on Friday June 3 an 18-year-old woman boarded a bus in Malaga.

A man who had spoken to her at the bus stop also got on the bus and sat next to her.

He then allegedly followed the woman off and on a number of buses.

While on a bus heading to Ellenbrook, the man allegedly touched the woman inappropriately.

The victim was too afraid to inform the bus driver, but phoned her family who contacted Transperth Security and police.

The woman got off the bus at Ellenbrook, and the man ran after her.

The bus driver, after being informed of what was happening by Transperth Security, drove the bus next to the woman and asked her to get back on before locking the doors with the man outside.

Police and security arrived a short time later, but the man had gone.

However, an investigation led to a search of a property in Westminster and the arrest of a 20-year-old man, who was charged with indecent assault.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Midland Magistrates Court today.
