AN Ellenbrook man is $1.3 million richer after winning division one in Saturday night’s Lotto.
The ex-serviceman and self-described battler won the money after his mother purchased the ticket at Nextra Ellenbrook News.
The lotto win is the second in less than six weeks at the Ellenbrook news agency, with a ticket worth $757,000 sold at the store as well.
Storeowner Marilyn Thompson said it was an amazing feeling knowing the store had sold the winning ticket.
“In six weeks we’ve changed the lives of two families,” she said.
“It’s really exciting for us and makes us happy that we can be part of something so life changing.”
The man’s mother, who did not wish to be named, said she purchased the lotto ticket as a gift for her son.
“After being in the defence force for most of his adult life, he starts a new job this week,” she said.
“I bought him the ticket as a good luck gesture and to remind him how proud I am to be his mum.”
