However, the Ellenbrook Sunshine Girl Guides are on a mission to prove that oral care can be fun.

The 24 members of the group set out for an excursion to WA Dental Ellenbrook last week to learn how to keep their pearly whites looking shiny.

“A lot of kids are scared to go, but we hope the girls can take from this that going to the dentist is not that scary,” leader in charge Michelle Thorne said.

She said having a female dentist provided the girls with a good role model.

“Girl Guides is a world wide movement that empowers girls and women. It teaches them leadership skills, how to contribute to society, how to work as a team and to make new friends,” she said.
