He said the award was a credit to his young team of employees and his biggest supporter, his wife Cristina.

“While there were numerous takeaway establishments offering “cheap eats” across Perth, I found that the product and service being offered was often of a poor quality,” he said.

“By setting up Romano’s Pizzeria, initially in Connolly and then opening a second store in Ellenbrook, I wanted to prove that it was possible to eat well on a low budget without compromising the product or service.”

The store won the 2014 Commonwealth Bank Small Business Award for Best New Business and awards for Best Pizza and Best Cheap Eats in WA categories of the I Love Food Awards in 2014.

He said his business would only continue to grow and make great food.

“This award win only fuels my passion to expand my business, which now offers a mobile pizza and catering service,” he said.
