Engage with China or miss out says James O’Loughlin

BUSINESSES were encouraged several years ago to get online and use social media or go backwards.

Of equal weight recently was the message from China-Australia expert James O’Loughlin at a City of Joondalup business forum: Engage with China or miss out; do business with a still-vibrant Chinese economy in a phenomenal country that has 232 cities with a bigger population than Perth.

The opportunities in China were endless, he said.

Opportunities in the food sector (China now encourages food imports), tourism (the Chinese are the highest-spending tourists), education, health and aged care (China has a fast-growing ageing population).

Important too was his message of friendship and giving to receive rather than first measuring the money to be made:

“If you find the right Chinese business partner, you will never be able to do more for them than they will do for you.”

Engaging with China will “change you, your business and Australia for the better”.
