UPDATE: Bushfire advice issued for residents near Aveley fire

UPDATE: A bushfire advice has been issued to residents in Aveley.

The fire is moving in a southerly direction and is contained but not controlled.

30 firefighters are on the scene fighting the fire.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says there is no immediate danger to residents, however they need to be aware and monitor their surroundings.

People in the area bounded by Egerton Drive, Gnangara Road, Henley Brook Road and Millhouse Road should stay alert and monitor their surroundings.

They should watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.

Close all doors and windows, turn off evaporative air conditioners – but keep running water through them if possible – and read through your bushfire survival plan.

EARLIER: FIRE fighters are at the scene of a bushfire in Aveley that appears close to homes.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has not issued a warning for nearby residents yet.

Police have closed some streets in the surrounding area.

The fire was reported at 3.30pm near Alverda Parade and Egerton Drive.
